a good day for a picnic
a warm and sunny day like today leaves me aching for a picnic in the park. the best accessories i can think of to accompany me on my voyage? a gorgeous multicolored plaid blanket, a leather-bound thermos, and a beautiful cooler filled with frosty brews. weekend, come to me. all items can be found at the lovely beg bicycles.

in love ... with phyllis galembo.
i'm in love with phyllis galembo. the new york photographer has both a creative and anthropological interest in the art of masquerade across various cultures, but her images of west african adornment are the ones that get me the most. the way she captures their use of vivid color, mix of pattern and textures, and play on proportion leaves me speechless. and sort of puts my jeans and t-shirts to shame. see more of her work here.
the magic
i recently got tipped off to the song "the magic" by joan as police woman by my friend oliver - and while the video is delightfully bizarre, i'm more likely to jam to this song while cruising the highway on a warm summer day. that is, after i get my hair brushed by a fish-wielding bodybuilder.

steve powers, you're just my type.
the project "a love letter for you" was unveiled over a year and a half ago along the elevated subway line in philadelphia, but these typographic murals by artist steve powers still make me smile. the colors, layouts, and fonts are beautiful, but most importantly, they directly reflect the messages of positivity and hope called out in the text. and what could be more romantic than a love letter to the world? learn more about the project here.
