steve powers, you're just my type.

the project "a love letter for you" was unveiled over a year and a half ago along the elevated subway line in philadelphia, but these typographic murals by artist steve powers still make me smile.  the colors, layouts, and fonts are beautiful, but most importantly, they directly reflect the messages of positivity and hope called out in the text.  and what could be more romantic than a love letter to the world?  learn more about the project here.

maps, deconstructed

istanbul.

new york city.

tamarac.

berlin.

le havre.
paris.

montpelier.
these incredible side-by-side maps are the work of french artist armelle caron.  starting with traditional city maps, she breaks down, compartmentalizes, and then rearranges the usable space into an altogether new form of map.  i think the end result is beautiful, and in a way the grid reminds me of a map legend.  stunning!  found via strange maps, see more of her work at her website here.
